My Amazon Prime Day Picks: Family Faves & Fun
It’s Day 2 of Amazon Prime Day, and I have another round of picks. I want to start this post with the exact same section from my previous post, because it’s important: how to shop for Prime Day Deals intentionally. And then I’ll move on to my favorite family/fun products that are included in the sale. Let’s dive in!
How To Shop Amazon Prime Day Intentionally
Yes, it’s Amazon Prime Day, but there’s no need to panic. First and foremost, you don’t need to buy anything. If this stuff overwhelms you, then don’t worry about it! You will save the MOST money by not buying anything at all, so there is no need to worry that you’re “missing out” on a sale. If you really needed something, you probably would have bought it already. And if you haven’t needed it yet, then there’s a good chance there will be another sale in the future when it becomes more necessary. So take a deep breath. This is not a race.
But if you’re like me, and you love to shop sales, then Amazon Prime Day is a great day to stock up on items that you need or will be needing soon. But please do your best to avoid buying things you don’t need. We don’t want today’s purchase to become tomorrow’s clutter. Rather, we want to buy intentionally. High quality over quantity. Items that will truly solve a problem in your life!
In order to do this, I recommend that you make a list of what you need rather than simply browsing. Then use the search bar to search specifically for what you need, and filter upon “Prime Day Deals” to see if there are any good deals on the item. This way you can avoid temptation to buys things you don’t need.
(I know this blog post is a form of “browsing” deals in and of itself, so please pass along if you are not in active need of these products!)
Additionally, you can check that something is actually a good deal by checking it against a third-party price tracking website like camelcamelcamel.com. Sometimes companies will hike up the price of an item shortly before a sale in order to make it look like it’s marked down during the sale. Don’t fall into marketing traps simply because the sale feels like it’s going to run out. Also, you can use these charts to see if it’s likely that the same item will be on sale again in the future (ex. on Black Friday).
My Amazon Prime Day Picks: Family Faves & Fun
Here are some of my favorite items in general that are included in the sale. Most of these are used frequently by me or my family, or they are next up on our shopping list. 😉
Baby
BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Jogging Stroller: This is SUCH a good stroller, it feels like pushing air. We loved it so much that we got the same brand in a double. Right now it is on sale, one of the times of the year that it drops to its lowest price, so if you are in need of a jogging stroller, I highly recommend! (Note: This isn’t marked specifically as an Amazon Prime Day sale, but it is still on sale on Amazon.)
Graco Landmark Car Seat: Amazon Prime Day is a great time to purchase a car seat, if you will need one anytime soon. This is a great convertible option at a great price.
J.L. Childress Car Seat Travel Bag: If you are traveling with a baby and a car seat any time soon, I highly recommend this bag for carrying a car seat. It’s a very lightweight backpack that makes it easy to carry in addition to other luggage. You can usually check a car seat for free with most airlines. And we’ve usually been able to sneak some extra stuff into this car seat bag. (Note: This isn’t marked specifically as an Amazon Prime Day sale, but it is still on sale on Amazon.)
Baby Gate: Baby gates are one of those things are aren’t very exciting to buy and usually cost more than you want them to. But it also feels like you need to have it. Like insurance. If you need one now or any time soon, Amazon Prime Day is a great time to purchase. This is a great price for a high quality baby gate!
Out & About With Kids
SCOUT 4 Boys Extra Large Tote Bag: I’ve had my eye on this as a beach bag for awhile now. This is the best price I’ve seen for it!
Contigo Aubrey Kids Water Bottle: These kids water bottles are the best because they ACTUALLY don’t leak, and they are easy to disassemble and clean (all of the small parts stay together in the dishwasher!). I’m about to go order another set for my kiddos.
Bentgo Kids Lunch Box: This is the lunchbox I want when my kids are school-age. It’s tempting for me to buy right now, but I’m sure it will be in future sales once we get closer to actually needing it.
Amazon Fire Kids Tablet: If you’re a tablet family, now is the time to buy. 😉
Small Appliances: Cleaning
Bissell Little Green Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner: I can’t tell you how many carpet incidents we had until I decided we should buy this. Best. Decision. Ever.
BIssell Vacuum & Steam Mop: I’ve had my eye on a vacuum/steam mop combo for awhile now. Could it finally be time to pull the trigger?!
Roomba Robot Vacuum: My little assistant. 🙂 And the ultimate time saver! I have a different version but I would love to upgrade to this Wi-Fi version one day.
Small Appliances: Kitchen
COSORI Pro II Air Fryer: This is my favorite appliance in the kitchen. So much so that it has earned a permanent spot on our counter. And if you know me, you know I like to keep my counter clear! It’s prime real estate! But the air fryer? Oh, that’s earned a permanent spot.
KitchenAid Hand Mixer: Okay, don’t sleep on a hand mixer. I know stand mixers are all the rage, but hear me out: a hand mixer can basically do the same job. It’s easier to store off of the counter, it’s lightweight, and it takes up less room. It’s just a solid choice for anyone who bakes a normal amount in a normal-sized kitchen.
Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe Coffee and Espresso Machine: Hi, I’m Maggie, and I’m a former Starbucks addict. Then one day I got this Nespresso Machine for my birthday, and I turned my life around. But seriously. I love my homemade cappuccinos even more now, and I’ve saved so much money and time by cutting down on takeout fancy coffee.
Tech Gadgets
Kindle Paperwhite: I love my Kindle because it’s a way to stay minimal about books. I know some people love the feel of a traditional book, and that’s great! But if you’re looking for a way to declutter and make more space in your house, and you’re a book person, then a Kindle is a great option.
Apple AirPods: Even more than physical books or my Kindle, I love audiobooks. And AirPods is how I make it happen. This is a great price for AirPods if you’ve been looking to pull the trigger! I will say, I have small ears, and so I prefer the Apple AirPods Pro, because I can adjust them down a size. But the Pro are not on sale for Amazon Prime Day. But it’s up to you! I know many people with more normal-sized ears who have thrived with the traditional AirPod shape (haha).
Functional Fashion
Colorfulkoala Women’s Leggings With Pockets: One word: POCKETS. Wait, actually two words: POCKETS and COMFORT. These leggings have it all. I have tried every pair from Lululemon, but these cheap leggings from Amazon are my favorites. I wear them like a uniform. I’m literally going to buy 3 more pairs during Amazon Prime Day so that I can wear them every day of the week. (I’m not kidding. Decide once in action!)
Colorfulkoala Women’s Biker Shorts with Pockets: This is the exact same thing, but as biker shorts. These are great for the summer, and I’ve also been loving wearing them underneath dresses, so that I can still have pockets.
Happy shopping!
