Why Saying No Is The Best Thing You Can Do For Yourself

You cannot do everything. This is such a basic truth that we so often forget. We have limited time, energy, and other resources. So in order to say yes to your true priorities, you have to say no to something else.

Say no is in fact the best thing you can do for yourself because it empowers you to say yes to higher priority things–the things that are more important, more valuable, or more urgent.

This week I have been saying no to:
• cleaning,
• putting away Christmas decorations,
• unpacking from my trip last week, and
• house projects…

So that I can say yes to:
• getting caught up at work,
• spending time with my family,
• moving my body, and
• getting more sleep.

Instead of feeling bad about the areas where I feel “behind,” I’m trying to accept the fact that I intentionally chose more important things. I will re-plan the things I didn’t get done, and maybe even shift my priorities for next week if one of them starts to bug me enough. 🙃

What are you saying no to this week?
