The Products That Cut My Cleaning Time in Half

In the spirit of spring, I’ve been very focused on all things cleaning this week. I’ve even been cleaning my cleaning supplies! As I’ve been using and decluttering the many products I use to clean my home, I’ve realized that there are a few clear winners that I will certainly always keep on hand. For me to love a cleaning product, it has to be effective and efficient, getting the job done right the first time around, but also easy to use and maintain. These are my top-rated cleaning products that will cut your cleaning time in half.

My Most Effective and Efficient Cleaning Supplies

My Top 10 Most Efficient Cleaning Products

All-Purpose Cleaner

Want to know how to slow yourself down with multiple trips to a super cluttered cleaning closet? (I learned this one the hard way…) Acquire a bunch of super specialized cleaning products that only do one job!

You will save yourself some serious time if you can declutter your cleaning products and pare it down to the products that you actually need. I love a good all-purpose cleaner because it does the job and keeps your process and storage system simple!

Dish Wand in The Shower

dish wand

Everyone loves a good dish wand, but have you ever used one in the shower? We now keep this dish wand brush in shower permanently so that we can more frequently spot-clean the shower. By staying on top this dreaded job regularly, the shower stays sparkling most of the time, and it’s much easier to do a full clean when necessary.

Bathroom Caddy

To be honest, I owe most of my cleaning tips to Clean Mama. Her post about How to Speed Clean Your Bathrooms has really improved my bathroom cleaning time. The most helpful piece of advice, though, is to use a cleaning caddy or bucket to carry your bathroom cleaning supplies around. This extremely simple change has made it so much faster for me to be ready-to-go, remember what I need to clean, and move from one bathroom to another. Keep in mind that a cleaning caddy without divided compartments, like this one, will fit cleaning the most products most efficiently.

Microfiber Cloths

This is another tip I learned from Clean Mama: microfiber cloths are the most effective cleaning cloth because they don’t spread dirt around. One wipe and you’re good! And not only are they eco-friendly in that they can they be reused between washes, but they can also be used longer within a single clean because they don’t spread dirt from one surface to the next. The microfibers trap bacteria, dirt, and grease which makes them the perfect workhorse for nearly any surface.

Smart Broom

I’ve never been a big broom person until I saw the Broombi Smart Broom. I love that it doesn’t have any bristles, so the crumbs don’t get stuck in the broom itself. Honestly, why is this first time I’m seeing a broom like this?! It just seems so much smarter.

Dust Mop

If you have hardwood floors, you need a dust mop. It’s got to be my most efficient cleaning tool, because I can often dry mop all of the hardwood and tile floors in my house in 5 minutes or less. I will still occasionally wet mop with a disinfecting solution to clean my floors more thoroughly, but I don’t feel the need to do it as often when I know the dry mop is doing most of the work on a more frequent basis.

Cordless Vacuum

Dyson cordless vacuum

The Dyson Vacuum is my absolute favorite product that I own. Yes, it’s a splurge, but if you like a clean house, I really think it’s worth every penny. It is so easy to use and so powerful. Since I acquired it, I actually vacuum for just a few minutes nearly every single night. And by spot checking the kitchen floors and entryways, my floors always feel mostly clean. It’s also so easy to switch out the adapters for small spaces like the car, couch, high chair, etc. I highly recommend!

Carpet Cleaner

Bissell Little Green carpet cleaner

I didn’t think I needed a Bissell Little Green Carpet Cleaner for the longest time. And while it’s true that I didn’t need it, it sure has been a game-changer with kids. It works on carpet and upholstery, and it’s pretty powerful against stains, even those that have been sitting for awhile. I love that I can avoid the spray-and-scrub game–ultimately saving me tons of time (and stress)!

All-Purpose Cleaning Paste

The Pink Stuff All-Purpose Cleaning Paste

This “Pink Stuff” Miracle All-Purpose Cleaning Paste is perfect for tough stains on hard surfaces… You know, those stains you’ve been looking at for years because nothing else works! It probably has a ton of other uses that I don’t even know about since it’s “all purpose”… Either way, it’s certainly worthy of a spot in the cleaning cabinet.

Laundry Stain Remover

Puracy Stain Remover

If you only want to keep one stain remover in your laundry room, it should be this one: Puracy Stain Remover Spray. It works on every type of stain, both old and new, and even when the stain is dried onto the clothing item. Occasionally it takes a little extra-long soak time, or multiple washes, but it’s powerful nonetheless. Most of the time it just takes one spray and you’re good. I can’t tell you how helpful this is for moms of young kids!

Whatever cleaning products you choose to buy for your home, be sure to keep them decluttered. Don’t buy too many variations or too many of the same thing, because you’ll lose track of what you have, and it will slow you down and waste your space. A clean cleaning cabinet is the first step towards a clean home. 🙂
