How To Choose A Lazy Susan For Your Space
Let’s talk about Lazy Susans! Also known as a turntable, a “Lazy Susan” (or “Hard-Working Susan”, as my mom likes to call it) is a great tool for organizing, because it turns around and makes everything easy to see and easy to access. They are frequently used by professional organizers, and they make for a great addition to nearly any space. Today I am rounding up the best Lazy Susans on the on the internet and discussing how to pick the one that is most functional for your space.
Before You Buy
Before you buy a Lazy Susan, make sure you know the answers to the following questions:
- Where is this going to go?
- What’s going to go in it?
- What size fits in my space? (Take the measurements!)
- Do I care about color and/or material?
Don’t just buy any of these out of temptation… Have your plan for what space you want to organize, and then come back to this guide to determine what’s right for the space. Let your space and budget guide the product selection, not the other way around!
One other thing to keep in mind about this tool is that the value they provide is in the rotation. This means that, the bigger the turntable, the more it moves items around, meaning it’s actually providing more functionality. The smaller the space, the less likely you are to need a Lazy Susan.

OXO Good Grips Lazy Susan (16″)
Copco Non-Skid Pantry Cabinet Lazy Susan (18″)
For Heavy Items
When you have heavier items, or items that are unstable and can’t stand on their own, I recommend a Lazy Susan with sides.
Copco Non-Skid Storage Turntable (12″)
Copco Non-Skid Storage Turntable (18″)
For Small Items
I do not recommend getting a turntable with dividers unless you are going to be using it for small items. The divided Lazy Susans are great for granola bars, tea bags, kids’ snacks, etc. But if you’re trying to use them for larger items like bottles, the dividers will just get in the way.
iDesign Divided Rotating Turntable (9”)
iDesign Recycled Plastic Lazy Susan (11.5”)
For Special Circumstances
YouCopia is a brand that creates very unique organizational solutions, and they make a handful of Lazy Susans that are perfect for special cases. (Plus, they are affectionately named “Crazy Susans”, so I give the brand some bonus points for that creativity!)
For Small Items Up High: Removable Bins
These turntables have removable bins, which make them really useful for pulling down from an up high space. Because the compartments are moved around though, they are best for small and lightweight items.

YouCopia Crazy Susan Turntable with 3 Removable Bins (11”)
For Extra Vertical Space: Another Tier
Talk about taking Lazy Susans to another level! This is perfect for when you have extra vertical space that you can use. This is not the only two-tier turntable on the market, but I do like that it has adjustable height.
YouCopia Crazy Susan Two-Tier Turntable (11”)
For Categorizing Bigger Items: Adjustable Dividers
When you want the categorization that comes with dividers, but not the restriction… Try this Lazy Susan with adjustable dividers.

I hope these Lazy Susans help you organize your space! And, remember: measure first. Happy turn-tabling!
